  1. The ink jet recording method performs image recording by a top shooter type thermal ink jet system. Ink is heated with heaters to grow air bubbles until the air bubbles communicate with an atmosphere and ink droplets are ejected above the heaters. Subsidiary ink droplets are ejected before the ink is replenished to predetermined liquid surface levels at which primary ink droplets are ejected after the ink droplets were ejected. The ink jet recording apparatus includes heaters, ink supplying paths for supplying ink to the heaters and driving devices for driving the heaters to heat the ink. The ink ejection amount can be changed to record a high quality image through correction of variations in the ink ejection amount among nozzles and expression with a finer gradation.
