  1. A mop has a holder for attaching a mop covering. The holder is composed of an at least substantially rigid core and of a flexible edge lining that is placed along a part or all of the edge of the flat core, and/or the mop covering projects beyond the holder on at least one portion of the periphery of the holder. The core is preferably encapsulated with the material of the edge lining by injection molding in order to achieve an improved joining and the provision of a small gap between the core and the edge lining.
