  1. A shock absorber (1), in particular for bicycles, has a first cylinder (2a) with a fluid chamber (3a) filled with a transmission or damping medium. An outwardly leading piston rod (6) with piston (5a) for receiving the shocks to be dampened is borne axially displaceable in the first cylinder (2a).
