  1. A method of initiating explosive charges ignites an explosive charge by the heat and/or explosion of a laser due to self-destruction or overheating of the laser source, and not by the radiation emitted from the laser. The laser source is assembled and/or embedded within the explosive charge. The laser source melts down or explodes and thereby initiates the explosive. With the disclosed method, it is possible to use even very small laser sources of the mini or micro type for triggering explosive charges rather than conventional approaches using powerful laser sources for the same purpose.
