A brassiere comprising two brassiere cups each having an equal number of two or more panel sections representing by at least a lateral sling panel section and a main panel section respectively with the panel sections of each breast cup arranged such that the lateral panel section acts as a sling and possesses substantially less elasticity than is possessed by the main panel section and that the brassiere satisfies a narrow base width measurement for each breast cup of between 11.5 and 13.5 centimeters when the brassiere is extended.
