The mark consists of a Maltese cross, between the arms of which are three rays extending from each re-entrant angle of the cross. In the center of the cross there is a medallion, on which there is the shield of the arms of the United States, surmounted by an eagle with outspread wings. Above the eagle is the inscription: Aztec Club and below it: U. S. Army 1847.;Indicating membership in a social association that is composed of descendants of American military officers serving in the Mexican war from 1846 to 1847;Color is not claimed as a feature of the mark.;U.S. ARMY 1847;
